BOTTLE TO BAG ♻️🎒 - Three Peaks GBR

4 STEP PROCESS

RPET (Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate) is a strong sustainable material that is made by recycling plastic bottles, turning them into a high quality fabric that can be used for making backpacks.

Here's how the process of manufacturing an RPET backpack works:

STEP 1 - Collection of Plastic Bottles

The first step is to collect and sort the plastic bottles. The plastic bottles are then crushed into small pieces and cleaned to remove any labels or other debris.

STEP 2 - Melting and Extrusion

The cleaned flakes are melted, and they are extruded into fine fibres. These fibres are spun into yarn which can be used for weaving the textile.

STEP 3 - Weaving and Knitting

The RPET yarn is woven or knitted into a durable and high quality fabric, which is used to make the backpack.

STEP 4 - Cutting and Sewing

The fabric is cut and sewn, and the other parts of the backpack are added, including the straps, zippers, and other accessories.

WHY RPET

An RPET backpack is a more sustainable choice than a non-recycled backpack, because it reduces plastics pollution by recycling waste plastic bottles. By recycling plastic bottles to create RPET material, there is less need for raw materials and energy to produce them, resulting in less carbon emissions being released into the environment. Additionally, the process reduces plastic waste landfill, which can take hundreds of years to decompose.

To summarise, RPET backpacks are an excellent choice for those who want to be fashionable, functional, and eco-friendly. By using recycled materials, these backpacks help to keep the environment clean, reduce the amount of plastic waste that ends up in landfills, and offer a sustainable option for those who care about the planet.
